The Rideau Canal is the second best destination in the world, according to the most recent sustainable tourism survey by the National Geographic Society.
The Rideau Heritage Route organization announced the designation yesterday. The annual Historic Destinations Ratedglobalstewardship survey measures the world's top historic sites for authenticity, stew ardship and their "tourism footprint," noted the Rideau group.
